Welcome to Smileys Dance School

Smileys dance school was established in 1997 by Principal Tanya Briggs, AIDTA, and has seen impressive growth over recent years.  Tanya and her teachers offer a range of classes from ballet and tap to street and cheerleading, with the additional opportunity to take singing lessons, for both girls and boys from the age of 3 upwards.  The school currently has in excess of 110 pupils and offers enjoyable, interesting class work with the opportunity for pupils to take part in numerous dance performances and exams in all available subjects.

The various classes are held in Tenterden, Kent, on weekday afternoons and evenings and Saturday mornings.  Smileys offers pupils the opportunity to perform at West End theatres and venues, including Her Majesty's Theatre, Saddlers Wells and The Royal Albert Hall.  Additionally, the school performs at a range of local events from fetes to carnivals, and on a national level at the World Superside Formula 1 Sidecar championships (view the Stingers gallery at the current worlchampions' website www.reeves77.co.uk).  Tanya organises an annual 'end-of-year' show involving all pupils, with other workshops held throughout the year at the Sinden Theatre, Tenterden.

Pupils are offered the opportunity to enter for exams as regularly as they are ready for them, however these are not compulsory.  Smileys is proud of its 100% exam pass rate.

Smileys creates a fun atmosphere for fitness and enables pupils to develop more confidence through show work, whilst learning under a carefully constructed syllabus.
